We Ran Out of Energy Halfway Round the Lake, So We Hung a Hammock
<p>We were halfway around the lake when the exhaustion caught up with us. It wasn't a plan, just a quick decision to stay. There was a spot right at the water's edge, two beech trunks the right distance apart, and the lake showing through the bare branches.
I strung the hammock, set the mic on a KFZ stand and left it stationary. Zoom F3 + Sennheiser MKE600, 32-bit float, auto gain off. No clipping, no noise reduction, no filters. Then I stood watch while the recorder ran. Early spring, daytime, no rain, last year's leaves still on the ground. Woodpeckers were active the whole time with songbirds layered underneath, and the wind was light. No traffic, no voices.
My son slept in the hammock the whole time I was recording. I stayed close and kept still, which isn't hard when you're tired too.
The gear list also includes a Rode NT1 and Rode cables, but the MKE600 setup is what ran here. We're guests in this place. We stayed a while and listened.
Every download is the real recording — no music, no AI.
Thanks for keeping this independent.
