Bieszczady Zoom F3, MKE 600, NT1 no music, no AI

Spruce logs popping by a mountain stream: River Sound for sleeping on a black screen, with a real campfire crackling beside the water in the Bieszczady.

The Bieszczady are one of the few wild places left. After a whole day of playing and recording new material, it was time for the high point of every evening: the campfire and roasting sausages. Tonight I even dug some marshmallows out of our supplies. It's going to be a feast!

The supplies are almost gone, so maybe it's time to go home. But my kid has an argument I can't beat for staying a few more days after we restock: we haven't finished building on the stream yet. And there's a new friend upstream, camping with his parents. We're staying! It's the holidays!

I'm going to put more wood on the fire, and you listen to the spruce logs popping. I love looking at the stars while my little one sleeps safely in the van, listening to everything I would never have heard if I hadn't left my old life behind.

The Sennheiser MKE 600 was aimed straight at the fire, with the RØDE NT1 behind it for the stream. Kit: Zoom F3, RØDE Blimp, custom-built NT1 mounts and blimps, RØDE XLR cables (5 m and 1 m) and Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. There was no wind that night. The video is one static black frame. Real field recording — no music, no AI.

Q: Is this real or AI-generated? A: Real field recording from the Bieszczady mountains, made with a Zoom F3, Sennheiser MKE 600 and RØDE NT1 — no music, no AI.

Q: Is this good for falling asleep? A: Yes. The stream gives a steady background and the fire adds soft crackling with the odd pop of a spruce log.
