Forest Sounds That Don't Stop | Remote Summer River Floodplain
🗓 summer, clear🎙 Lumix S5, Zoom F3, NT1, MKE 600⏱ 2 h 23 min✅ no music, no AI
Forest sounds for stress relief, plus bird sounds carrying across a summer river floodplain. Nature sounds only, no music, no narration, held at one level.
Clear summer afternoon, hot. Getting in meant a 5 km off-trail bushwhack through forest with a full backpack of gear to reach a floodplain visible only on a map, no path, no prior visit. Clouds of mosquitoes and every other flying thing you can imagine, and reeds and fallen trees to climb over most of the way. Camera set once and left alone, and past the trees a dog barking somewhere far off. Despite the brutal approach, I'm coming back — all four seasons, just to see what happens.

Q: Is this real or AI-generated? A: Real field recording from a river floodplain reached on foot, captured with a Zoom F3, a Sennheiser MKE600 and a Rode NT1. No music, no AI.
Q: When is this best to listen to? A: It's 2 hours and 23 minutes long, so it fits an afternoon of work or the stretch of evening before bed. Not long enough to cover a whole night.

Field notes
A river floodplain, reeds and fallen trees everywhere. Summer. A place I only knew from the map — I went to check it myself: about 5 km through the forest with no paths, from the nearest forest road.
In the distance, a few kilometres away, you can hear dogs — probably from a settlement far from everything.
You have to like this: pushing through the forest with a backpack full of gear to sit and listen for a few hours. Loads of mosquitoes and other flying things.
Despite the hard walk in, I'll visit in every season, out of curiosity. I go to new places alone first — this isn't a place for my little explorer. Never mind, together we'll find even more beautiful ones.
