River Sound for Sleeping, No Loops in the Slovak Tatra Mountains
📍 Slovak Tatras🗓 summer, clear🎙 Lumix S5, Zoom F3, NT1, MKE 600⏱ 3 h 12 min✅ no music, no AI
River sounds for sleeping: river white noise held at one level for a little over three hours, nothing that spikes or drops out as you settle in. Clear summer conditions, no music, no edits, and it's real water rather than a white noise machine.
Hours of walking first. The Slovak Tatras are wilder than the Polish side, and this was a two-day trip in, nobody else at the water when we got there. Sometimes it's worth marching for a few hours. Shallow river, every stone on the bottom visible through it, full summer light, camera locked down. Two microphones deployed simultaneously at the river, the MKE600 aimed directly at the water surface and the NT1 set back to capture the ambient depth behind it.

We were both out there for this one. Planning to bring him back to this area next time.

Q: Is this real or AI-generated? A: Real field recording from the Slovak Tatras, captured with a Sennheiser MKE600 and a Rode NT1 into a Zoom F3, picture on a Panasonic Lumix S5. No music, no loops, no AI.
Q: Can I sleep with this on all night? A: The file runs 3 hours and 12 minutes, so it's honest to call it something to fall asleep to rather than a whole night of playback. The level stays the same from start to finish.
Field notes
A shallow mountain river somewhere in the Slovak Tatras — you can see the stones on the bottom. Summer, a short two-day trip to Slovakia.
The Slovak Tatras are wilder than the Polish side. Wild places, no people, no civilisation. Sometimes it's worth walking for a few hours.
A rest and a coffee in a place like this recharges you for the rest of the hike. Next time I'm bringing my little explorer here.
MKE 600 aimed at the water, NT1 for the background.
