For sleep: Fireplace Ambience for sleeping on a black screen, a real wood fire crackling in an old house hearth. 11 hours of fireplace sounds recorded on a summer night in a remote area, made to fall asleep to.

Evening has come, so we're lighting the fire in the fireplace of our old house. It stands in a remote area, far from traffic, and on this summer night the only sound is the hearth itself: logs crackling, small pops and the low, even rush of flames.

Tonight we're going big. The wood supply was restocked beforehand, so this is a generous fire with plenty to burn. I set up a directional mic with a blimp. It's reliable gear, and it picks up every snap of the burning wood up close.

Tonight I'm the one keeping the fire, and I'm tired, so I won't be sitting up with it for long. I'll stay three hours at most. Once our little one falls asleep, I'm going to bed too. You can put this fireplace recording on and sleep along with us. Good night!

The picture is a single static black frame for the whole file, so the crackling fire is all there is.

Q: Is this real or AI-generated? A: Real field recording from an old house in a remote area, made with a Zoom F3, a Sennheiser MKE 600 and a Blimp. There's no music and no AI.

Q: Is this good for falling asleep? A: Yes. It's the steady crackle of a well-fed wood fire with no sudden sounds, and it's easy to settle in and drift off to.
